Young couple Matthew Jones & Zoe Pritchard, both teachers from the Newtown area, recently took a big step in their lives by investing in their dream home at Primesave Properties’ beautiful development, Oaks Meadow in Sarn, Wales. Their journey to homeownership is a mix of good timing, ready access to expert support, and the helpful support of the Help to Buy Wales scheme, which made the process much more accessible for them. We caught up with Zoe, who shared more about the couple’s journey into homeownership.
“I just came across the house on Rightmove,” Zoe shares. “I had looked before, like last year, and most of the plots were already sold. Then I saw this one was having an open day, so I thought, ‘Quick!’ It was the last one left, so it felt like fate.”
Living just ten minutes away from Oaks Meadow, Zoe and her partner Matt were drawn to the peaceful setting of the development. “We didn’t want to be in the hustle and bustle of a town. We always said we wanted to live in a quiet village, and this was the perfect spot,” she explains. The location offers a serene environment that is ideal for their lifestyle, especially with their dog in tow. The couple appreciates being surrounded by nature while still having access to local amenities.
When they visited the site, the Primesave team introduced them to the Help to Buy Wales scheme, which made a huge difference for them financially. “It helped us out massively,” Zoe emphasises. “If it hadn’t been for that, we would have needed a 10% deposit instead of 5%. It would have taken us years longer to save up.” This scheme allowed them to purchase their home sooner than they had anticipated, avoiding the lengthy wait that many first-time buyers face.
The features of the Oaks Meadow house caught their attention right away. “What stood out to me straight away is the big open plan downstairs,” Zoe says. “It’s such a great communal area. We love hosting friends and family, so that was really important for us.” The modern design and spacious layout not only make it perfect for entertaining but also create a warm and inviting atmosphere for everyday living.
Throughout the buying process, Zoe felt superbly supported by the Primesave Properties team. “The team has been really great,” she praises. “They constantly kept in touch with us through emails and were always there when we needed help. Martin Moore was especially helpful—he answered all our questions and was just a text away at any time.”
Zoe shares some advice for other young couples thinking about buying their first home or using Help to Buy Wales: “Just go for it! A lot of young people don’t know about schemes like Help to Buy Wales. If you don’t do your research or have someone guiding you, you might miss out.” She acknowledges that navigating the housing market can be daunting but encourages others not to shy away from seeking help.
She adds, “I think many young people feel overwhelmed by how much they need to save for a deposit. But there are options out there—definitely look into them!” Zoe’s insights reflect her and her partner’s own experience of learning about financial options that can ease the burden of homeownership.
Now that they’re settled into their new home, Zoe and Matt are excited about what lies ahead in their community. “We can’t wait to really settle in and make this place our own,” Zoe concludes positively. They look forward to building memories in their new space and reinforcing their strong community connections.
Zoe & Matt’s story is just one of countless that show how Primesave Properties and initiatives like Help to Buy Wales are helping young couples turn their dreams of homeownership into reality.
